Septimius Severus, 193-211. Aureus (Gold, 20 mm, 7.09 g, 11 h), Rome, 203. SEVERVS PIVS AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus to right, seen from behind. Rev. INDVLGENTIA AVGG / IN CARTH Dea Caelestis, holding thunderbolt in her right hand and scepter in her left, seated facing on lion leaping to right, with crag to left from which water flows. BMC 333 var. (Dea Caelestis holding drum instead of thunderbolt). Calicó 2463. Cohen 227. RIC 267b var. (Dea Caelestis holding drum instead of thunderbolt). Rare. Two minor graffiti and the flan slightly wavy, otherwise, very fine.
